Is a road and mountain bike club in the Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley, Carson City, and Markleeville areas whose primary focus is to promote cycling and to create an environment in which cyclists of all ages and abilities can enjoy the sport and socialize with other riders. Welcome to the American River Parkway Foundation. Our success depends upon a dedicated corps of volunteers. The Sacramento County Annual Parks Pass allows entry into all parks of the Sacramento County Regional Parks system.
These rides, which comprise my favorite recreational bike routes in central California, start and end at locations outside the immediate Sacramento area. Each ride is a personal creation. They are closed loops, starting and finishing at the same location. In contrast to Recreational Loops, these rides start at one location and terminate elsewhere. In other words, you can actually accomplish purposeful transportation! These routes inherently are substantially more risky.

In the summer of 1955 when I was in college and was working in Asheboro, NC, I decided to ride my one-speed bicycle home to Winston-Salem one Friday evening, only to get there and find that my parents were away. That 45 mile jaunt was my last lengthy bike ride until 1974. I lived in Bethlehem, PA from 1969-1976 and my wife and four children and I drove to NC at Chris. Sometimes we had flat tires or a bicycle accid.
